Routed track, wireless controllers, lane changing, PC controlled and monitored, traffic sensing racing with up to 24 cars! It would certainly be interesting for an enduro race considering you could have up to 24 teams/cars running. Or maybe the IROC series run in it's original format of inverting the field of all 12 drivers and cars from race to race. The creative possibilities would be endless.

Digital has been met with little interest but the tech seems to be evolving. Someday they may meet or exceed our needs and be of more interest to us. Perhaps digital is making a step to "The Next Level".

Digital is for playing with your little kids, not for racing. Yes we could put ten guys on the track, and we'd have fun smashing each other up for 5 minutes, but then what do you do. It can be frustrating getting stuck next to a guy who's stuggling for one heat. Now you've got 16 other cars in your lane? What happens if you bump the guy in front of you, are you penalized? What if he breaks early so you hit him? And if I was in the green lane and I deslot, which lane do I get put back into? All while watching your virtual dashboard lcd display, and getting vibrational feedback. No way, not racing, too much other sh*t going on, and too many things beyond the drivers control to be able to call it competetive. But great fun if you have 3-8 year olds.

Okay, how many people can you get around a slot car track?

I don't think I can get 24 people in my basement!

If every linear foot of the track's perimeter has a driver with a controller, how do you marshal?

Curious minds want to know. :)

Could be lots of fun for a reasonable number of people around a good sized track.

Anybody see the track in the latest Model Car Racing Magazine? It's got lane changing and can run 6 cars per lane on a routed track and it's huge!

I dunno Neal, it may be comparable to learning to driving without magnets but now not only do you have to drive it, you have to make sure you don't drive it into something! No empty lane ahead, you actually have to deal with the traffic.:D
