Thanks for the good wishes Jon, and I'm always looking for information.
Yesterday I met Rob Hall, the guy who took so much time to teach me about tire truing. His tire truing process has been the biggest break through for me . It makes such a big difference.
But for the NSR Nats, it will be hand out tires, Quick Slicks, of you choice. So no truing or gluing. Just slip them on and race.

I'm still struggling though.
The first race, Early LeMans, I ended up 6th out of 7 racers. Evidently, about 5-8 guys didn't show up for various reasons. This class dictates an NSR 20,000 motor and the motor I used was the one I used 2 years ago for the NSR Nats. So I think it was a little tired.

For Modern GT, I ended up 4th, I was 2 laps out of 1st. They have been running these 2 classes for the last 2 years, weekly. So they have alot of time to test and tune. I'm trying to play catch up big time. But i learned some tuning tips that I will apply for the Nats.

Their local racers are very, very good. Every one was very friendly. They are all looking forward to GLSCC racers coming out for the Michigan 24 Hour.

Denny - Good luck out there. Sounds like a lot of fun. Pick up some good intel that we can use for the 24 hour race next year.

I won't be able to make this one as I am getting ready for the NSR Nationals at Clover Leaf Raceway just outside of Detroit.
I was there 2 weeks ago tuning.
Every Wednesday night they race NSR Early LeMans and NSR Modern GT. These are the same classes for the Nationals. So I'll be going there tomorrow to test the waters and see how I compare and race with the locals.
Then back to Clover Leaf for the Nationals the first weekend of October.
This has used up my allotment of slot car racing for a while.

Wish I could be there with all of you. I know you'll all have lots of fun.

Ken - Always a good question. Front door will be open, come on in. No need to knock or ring the bell. Dogs may (will) bark at you, but they are gated. The basement stairs door will be open and it's to the left under the stairs when you enter the front door.

Chuck,you can clean and prep sponge m or fish rubber with a product called tigers milk. There is also a new product. by the Blary race team ( Big Larry and Gary) it is called Kitty milk. It's double the price of tigers milk but well with the money. GARY HOLDS THE CAT DOWN AND B.L. SQUEEZES THEIR LITTLE TEATS. Very labor intensive but the product is the best out there!!!!!.And Big Larry says it's much safer than milking Tigers.;-)

That gives me a much better idea of what to go with.

They work well on my track for sure. I just clean them like the 1/32 silicones. I'm trying to think if I used them anywhere else. Maybe at Randy's once, but my memory is fuzzy on that one. From what I remember, they worked well there also. I'll have to test again the next time H&R cars are on a race card.

Really Jon? Only on your track or elsewhere too? That's interesting if they work on other tracks. No cleaning, no treating and they should last forever.

The HRCH08 has the narrow rear foams (12mm wide) and a Hawk 18k RPM motor that you can use in other 1/32 classes like Carrera DTM if you want. I like the silicones on my H&R though. The narrow ones seem to be more forgiving because I think the wide ones have too much grip. The HRCH10 has narrow rear silicones (12mm) and the Hawk 18k RPM motor. Just some thoughts.

I would say no. You want an HRCH01. I wouldn't recommend silicone or fish rubber. I would say you'd be better off with the narrow foam instead of silicone or fish rubber. Not sure how familiar you are, but we also put a Slot-it Boxer 2 in them, you could run a Ninco NC-6 if you have one playing around, and keep the stock gearing.

I want to build up an H&R car but need some advice. Would the H&R HRCH06 chassis work as the basis of a competitive car.
Any info / advice appreciated.
