The race isn't over and the awards aren't given til the checkered flag falls, an important lesson learned in the 2014 DTM Shootout. Kens inspired and consistent driving combined with a well tuned smooth running Ninco Mercedess resulted in his rising from the C Main all the way to winning the A Main Championship.

Ken managed to defeat the only other main winner, Papa Steve, who had earlier defeated Roberto and Ramcat in the D Main. He also had to outrun Big Larry in the C Main to begin his run to the top of the brackets. Ken then passed Randy in the second heat of the B Main and continued on to deal back Gary late in the third heat.

This led to a very exciting A main which involved an unfortunate restart for high qualifying and race favorite Rich falling behind and playing catch up for the remainder of the Main. Rich ended up chasing the gentleman racer himself, Mr.Norm, who battled side by side with Ken until the fender rubbing resulted in Norm losing the slot and allowing Ken to extend an insurmountable lead.

All involved happily congratulated Ken on his victory and we we are all proud of this evenings efforts. This first series on the newly opened Chicago Riverside Raceway Long Course began as a runaway by Rich and Norm in the qualifying but resulted in close exciting racing in the shootout.
